Dean Burmester, during the Italian Open last October, is just off the green, about 40 feet from the hole, on his second shot on the par-3 17th. He pitches it about 40 feet past the hole.
“And that was,” the commentator said. “I don’t know what that was.”
“He’s your fellow countryman, and I know you’re going to defend him, but I think it’s the worst shot I’ve seen this week,” another commentator said.
Martin Kaymer, during the Qatar Masters last March, hits a second tee shot after hitting his first right, where “it’s not pretty.” He hits tee shot two low and left.
“Well this is a complete double cross,” the commentator says. “Oh this is ugly. Ugly, ugly, oh dear me.”
Adrian Otaegui, also at the Italian Open, is just off a green, about 15 feet from its hole. “It’s a beautiful setting, isn’t it?” the commentator says. Otaegui putts it — and comes up about 6 feet short.
“Oh my goodness me. It’s not really beautiful now,” the commentator adds. “What happened there?”
The worst. Ugly, ugly, ugly. What happened? The shots were bad in a “Worst Golf Shots of the Year” video recently shared by the European Tour on its YouTube channel.
The commentary was not.
(And neither was the producer’s whimsical music choices throughout.)

Second video: Andrew Johnston’s second shot on the par-3 13th at the Celtic Classic. Johnston, from a trap on the left side of the hole, and hits it over the green and into the water.
Third video: Francesco Laporta’s second shot on the par-5 12th at the Portugal Masters. Laporta mishits his ball from the fairway, and it skips across the water.
Fourth video: Bernd Wiesberger’s second shot on the par-4 18th at the ISPS Handa UK Championship. Wiesberger hits it short and into the water.
Fifth video: Andy Sullivan’s second shot on the par-4 16th at the Celtic Classic. Sullivan, from a bunker, hits the lip, and his ball comes right back to him.
Sixth video: Brandon Stone’s second shot on the par-5 2nd at the English Championship. Stone, from the rough, shanks his shot into the trees on the right.
Seventh video: Stephen Gallacher’s tee shot on the par-4 18th at the Oman Open. Gallacher hits it right and into the water.
Eighth video: Thomas Pieters’ tee shot on the par-4 15th at the Celtic Classic. Pieters hits it low and right, with a shot tracer on it.
