2021 Players Championship tee times: First round groupings for Thursday

The 2021 Players Championship begins on Thursday, March 11 at TPC Sawgrass, where a ridiculously strong field will compete to win the PGA Tour’s premier event. You can find full first round tee times at the bottom of this post.

What can you say about Bryson DeChambeau? Since last year’s Players Championship was cut short by the Covid-19 pandemic shutdown, DeChambeau has taken the PGA Tour by storm, winning three times including his triumph at the 2020 U.S. Open, all powered by his monstrous drives. If you have any doubt about Bryson’s skills, just look to last week, where he outlasted several challengers to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He’s even in the heads of the PGA Tour, who came up with a new local rule for TPC Sawgrass to stymie Bryson this week.

For Thursday’s first round, DeChambeau will tee off at 1:00 p.m. ET alongside World No. 1 Dustin Johnson and reigning PGA champion Collin Morikawa. They’ll start the day on the 1st hole.

Other notable groupings for the opening round include Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia and Webb Simpson (7:40 a.m. ET); Jordan Spieth, Patrick Reed and Jon Rahm (12:49 p.m. ET); Phil Mickelson, Charles Howell III and Tony Finau (7:07 a.m. ET); and Justin Thomas, Viktor Hovland, and Patrick Cantlay (7:29 a.m. ET).
