One week remains before the start of the Masters, but first we must crown a champion at the 2021 Valero Texas Open, which kicks off on Thursday. Here’s what you need to know to watch the first round.

Previewing Texas Open Round 1

You may be impatiently waiting for the start of the Masters, but you don’t have to wait a week to see a bevy of Tour stars compete for glory. Five-time major champion Phil Mickelson is in the field, looking for a final tune-up before trying for his fourth green jacket. Mickelson is playing well lately, having made the cut in his last two PGA Tour events, including a T25 at the Honda Classic.

Mickelson will be joined by two fan favorites trying to turn their games around: Rickie Fowler and Jordan Spieth. Fowler needs a win this week to earn a spot at Augusta, or else he’ll miss his first Masters in 10 years.

The picture is slightly different for Spieth, who has shown signs of a major comeback for months now. He may already have a place in the field at Augusta, but a win this week would mean just as much to him as it would to Rickie.

Below you will find everything you need to watch the first round on Thursday.
