Although he has no PGA Tour status, Will Zalatoris is the favorite this week for the Corales Puntacana Club and Resort Championship at 12/1 odds, according to golfodds.com. Zalatoris heads to the Dominican Republic on the strength of a T6 finish at the U.S. Open last week that had fellow players and members of the media in awe over his crisp ball striking.
Zalatoris’ strong finish was by far his best result in a Tour event, and if he can continue that momentum this week, he could conceivably lock up Special Temporary Member status. This status would allow him unlimited sponsor exemptions and an easier path to a full Tour card than the Korn Ferry Tour presents.
A pair of Canadians in Mackenzie Hughes and Corey Conners have the second and third best odds this week at 14/1 and 18/1, respectively. Hughes was the runner up in this event last year, while Conners had a T13 finish in 2018.
Sam Burns also has 18/1 odds, while Emiliano Grillo and major-winner Henrik Stenson both own 25/1 odds to round out the top five.
