The stars of the PGA Tour have gathered in Mamaroneck, N.Y., to finally contest the postponed 2020 U.S. Open at storied Winged Foot Golf Club. Here’s everything you need to know to watch the event.

U.S. Open preview

The 2019-20 PGA Tour season might be in the rearview, but we still have two more major championships to decide before the calendar turns to 2021. The first happens this week, and if early reports are correct, it will be the toughest test the best in the game will face by a long shot.

The last time the U.S. Open came to Winged Foot, Phil Mickelson put on one of the gutsiest performances of his career, that is until the 72nd hole. Mickelson famously doubled the 18th on Sunday to hand Geoff Ogilvy a U.S. Open title. Phil, now 50 and a winner on the Champions Tour, has accumulated six runner-up finishes in the national championship. Could this be the week he finally completes the career grand slam?

Tour Confidential: Can anyone beat Dustin Johnson at Winged Foot?
By: GOLF Editors

Not if Dustin Johnson has anything to say about it. The World No. 1 and newly minted FedEx Cup champion doesn’t just have a fresh $15 million in his pocket, he also has the hard-earned confidence of his tremendous recent streak of play. DJ tied for second at the PGA Championship, then went 1-2-1 to close out the season.

And don’t forget about reigning Masters champion Tiger Woods. Before he finally gets a chance to defend that title at Augusta in November, Woods will try and add a fourth U.S. Open trophy to his collection. Tiger hasn’t looked his best in the limited amount of tournaments he’s played since the Tour returned to action in June. His last three finishes were T37 at the PGA Championship, T58 at the Northern Trust and T51 at the BMW Championship.

You can check out full information about streaming the 2020 U.S. Open online or watching the action on TV below.

How to watch the U.S. Open on TV

Two channels will carry live U.S. Open action to your television screens this week, Golf Channel and NBC. Golf Channel will air early round coverage on Thursday, Friday and Sunday. NBC will broadcast two hours of coverage on Thursday, three hours on Friday, eight and a half hours on Saturday, and the final six hours of the tournament on Sunday.

Here’s a complete TV schedule for the week:

Thursday, September 17: 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m. ET (Golf Channel); 2-5 p.m. ET (NBC)
Friday, September 18: 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. ET (Golf Channel); 4-7 p.m. ET (NBC)
Saturday, September 19: 11 a.m. -7:30 p.m. ET (NBC)
Sunday, September 20: 10 a.m.-12 p.m. ET (Golf Channel); 12-6 p.m. ET (NBC)

How to watch the U.S. Open online, streaming

For the first time, large portions of the U.S. Open will be available to watch exclusively on Peacock, NBCUniversal’s new streaming service. That includes the final two hours of Thursday’s first round, and the opening two hours of coverage for the final three rounds. Fortunately, this streaming coverage will be offered for free to all viewers, as long as you sign up for a free Peacock account, which you can do here.

The USGA will offer Featured Group and Featured Hole coverage throughout the tournament on usopen.com, the U.S. Open app and the U.S. Open streaming app. In addition, you can watch U.S. Open 360, which will include player interviews, live-streams from the practice areas and more.

The Golf Channel and NBC TV broadcasts can be streamed live in their entirety at NBCSports.com, though you will need a subscription to partake.
