The highly anticipated 2020 Masters kicks off on Thursday at Augusta National, where Tiger Woods, Bryson DeChambeau and all the best players in the game will begin their quest for a green jacket on Sunday. Here’s everything you need to know to watch the first round.
Previewing Masters Round 1
He may not be the betting favorite, and many experts don’t give him much of a shot to win, but Tiger Woods will have the entire golf world’s attention on Thursday. He is the defending champion, after all, even though that epic victory happened a good 19 months ago. But no matter what shape his game is in, the five-time champion always has a chance at Augusta National.
He will have his work cut out for him on Thursday, though. Tiger will get his tournament started early in the morning at 7:55 a.m. ET, and since the Masters is using split tees this year, he’ll begin on the difficult 10th hole before diving into Amen Corner.
Hit the course like Tiger
Shop NowThe co-favorites, according to Chirp, should be no surprise to anyone: Bryson DeChambeau and Dustin Johnson. Johnson is the top-ranked player in the world, and DeChambeau’s profile has exploded this year with his massive distance increases that helped him earn his first major championship victory in the last major to be played, the 2020 U.S. Open at Winged Foot. Bryson will get started even earlier than Tiger (at 7:33 a.m. ET), while DJ will have to wait until noon to tee off alongside Rory McIlroy.
