One set of matches remains before the 2021 WGC-Dell Match Technologies Play switches to a single elimination format on the weekend. Here’s what you need to know to watch the action on Friday.
Previewing WGC-Dell Match Play Day 3
The stakes are high on the final day of round robin play at this year’s Match Play. Look no further than Jordan Spieth (1-0-1). Spieth has been threatening to end his winless drought for months now, and it may take this week’s format change to put him over the top. If he’s going to keep his tournament hopes alive, he’ll need to defeat or tie Corey Connors (0-0-2) on Friday.
But that’s not all. He also needs Matthew Wolff (1-0-1) to tie or lose to Matt Fitzpatrick (1-1-0). Fitzpatrick isn’t out of it either, for a victory paired with Spieth loss would see the young Englishman advance. If both group matches end in ties, Spieth and Wolff would decide things in a playoff.
Scenarios like this one abound up and down the leaderboard (see: Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy) setting up an extremely exciting third day of play. Below you will find everything you need to watch the third round on Friday.
