It took five days, but we’re finally coming down to the wire at the U.S. Women’s Open. Monday has been a pressure-cooker, with lots of leaderboard jockeying greeting frigid temperatures on the rain-extended final day of golf’s last major in 2020. Here’s everything you need to know about the purse information at Champions Golf Club in Houston.
Amy Olson is on the cusp of a career-changing win coming down the stretch at Champions Golf Club. The 28-year-old from Oxbow, N.D., (population: 308) is one stroke off the lead at the U.S. Women’s Open in search of not only her first major championship, but also her first professional victory. Olson was a decorated college golfer at North Dakota State, eclipsing Juli Inkster’s record for college victories, but has yet to break through on the biggest stage. After squandering a one-stroke lead on the 72nd hole of the 2018 ANA Inspiration, Olson looks to exorcise her demons Monday.
If Olson is to have a chance, she’ll have to outlast the likes of A Lim Kim, Jin Young Ko and Hinako Shibuno. Kim is the clubhouse leader at three under. Shibuno, the 2019 AIG Women’s Open champ, led coming into the day but has struggled throughout much of the final round.
Below is the payout information for the U.S. Women’s Open’s $3 million purse; you can catch the action all afternoon on Golf Channel.
