As the PGA Tour swings west for a rare fall stop in California, it should be no surprise that the co-favorites know a thing or two about playing out west. Xander Schauffele and Jon Rahm, who both live on the west coast, top the betting odds for the Zozo Championship this week at 10/1, according to golfodds.com.
Scauffele comes into the event fresh off a runner-up finish last week in Las Vegas, while Rahm is still trying to find the form that made him such a force last season. Schauffele finished inside the top 10 last year at the Zozo, although that was when the event was hosted in Japan, while Rahm is making his first appearance in the tournament.
Behind the two favorites is Justin Thomas at 12/1 odds. Thomas finished T17 at the Zozo last year and has a pair of top-15 finishes in this new young season.
Tyrrell Hatton and Webb Simpson both own 20/1 odds while Collin Morikawa and Patrick Reed round out the top five with 25/1 odds. Defending champions Tiger Woods lags well behind the favorites at 40/1 odds as he makes his first start since a disappointing missed cut at last month’s U.S. Open.
