The 2021 Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines is already at the halfway point, and a jam-packed leaderboard full of big names all but ensures that the weekend will be filled with exciting action you won’t want to miss. Here’s what you need to know to watch the third round.
Previewing Farmers Insurance Open Round 3
Viktor Hovland powered through an afternoon weather delay to fire a sizzling 7-under 65 to lead the field by one shot at 9-under. Hovland is seeking his third career PGA Tour victory, but he has his work cut out for him over the next two rounds. His chasers include Jon Rahm, Adam Scott, Tony Finau and Patrick Reed at only one shot back.
Hovland will start his third round at 12:50 p.m. ET in a star-studded group that includes Rahm and Scott.
Another player who lit it up on Friday is Robby Shelton, who shot the low round of the tournament thus far, with an 8-under 64. Shelton launched himself up the leaderboard to T9 at 7-under overall. He’ll tee it up on Saturday with Will Gordon and Patrick Reed at 12:30 p.m. ET.
Another player to look out for on Saturday is Rory McIlroy. Though he’s five shots behind Hovland’s lead, McIlroy is coming off a third-place finish at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship last week and is currently T14. He’ll play the third round alongside Adam Hadwin and Rory Sabbatini at 12:00 p.m. ET.
