Jon Rahm is the far-and-away favorite to win this week’s Mexico Open, and it’s not even close. But that doesn’t guarantee a win for the World No. 2. He still has to hit the shots, and he began his quest Thursday morning with a hot start.
Rahm made three birdies over his first six holes in the opening round to quickly move up the leaderboard. By day’s end, he had improved that number to seven under, leaving him tied for the lead.

For the second round at Vidanta, Rahm will get his day started in the late afternoon, giving him the opportunity to sleep in and fully prepare for the second 18.
