The Tour Championship, the final event of the PGA Tour’s season, will pay its winner $15 million.
The winner of the final event of the Tour’s regular season gets a healthy check, too.
Seventy-one players are competing for a $1.152 million first-place prize on Sunday at the Wyndham Championship, part of a $6.4 million purse. Russell Henley leads by three shots entering the final round at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., with Tyler McCumber three shots back, and Branden Grace, Roger Sloan, Kevin Kisner, Kevin Na, Scott Piercy and Rory Sabbatini four behind.
Golfers this week are also playing to improve their standing one last time in the FedEx Cup regular-season standings. The top 125 will advance to next week’s Northern Trust, the first leg of the Tour’s three-week postseason, which concludes with the Tour Championship over Labor Day weekend.
