One of the quarterfinalists was down one after one hole. And two down after two holes. And three down after three holes. And four down after five holes. Then he got to the 7th hole. And went birdie, birdie, birdie, birdie, birdie, birdie, birdie, birdie. Here who’s moving on to the quarterfinals and who isn’t after round of 16 play at the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play at Austin Country Club in Austin, Texas.

Complete leaderboard here.

Who’s moving on and who’s going home

Matt Kuchar def. Jordan Spieth 1-up: Kuchar dropped a 5-foot putt for birdie on the par-4 18th to advance. He had never led the entire match.

Brian Harman def. Bubba Watson 2 and 1: Harman lost four of the first five holes, then peeled off eight straight birdies to win.

Scottie Scheffler def. Ian Poulter 5 and 4: Scheffler led after three, and Poulter never won a hole. Poulter had gone 3-0 in pool play.

Jon Rahm def. Erik van Rooyen 3 and 2: Rahm, the three seed, took a 1-up lead on the 291-yard, par-4 13th when he drove the green and dropped a 13-footer for eagle, then won the 14th and 16th holes. He was the only player among the top 20 seeded players to advance.

Billy Horschel def. Kevin Streelman 3 and 1: Horschel saw a 4-up lead drop to two after 16 holes, then won the 17 to advance.

Tommy Fleetwood def. Dylan Frittelli 4 and 3: Fleetwood hit his approach to within 3 feet on the par-4 15th to win the match.
