The 2021 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, the second World Golf Championship event of the year, starts on Wednesday. Here’s what you need to know to watch the first round.

Previewing WGC-Dell Match Play Round 1

It might seem like Bryson DeChambeau has been around forever, but the 27-year-old has actually only been playing on Tour for a few years. As a result, he’s only competed in one WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play event. That was in 2019, when he finished T40. But after last year’s tournament was cancelled due to the coronavirus, the Match Play is finally back this week, and so is Bryson.

DeChambeau will play Frenchman Antoine Rozner in his first match on Wednesday, one of 32 matches taking place on the opening day of play. They tee off at 12:03 p.m. ET. If either player loses the match outright, they won’t be eliminated just yet. The first three days feature round-robin play, with single-elimination beginning on Saturday for the 16 qualifiers who advance past the first stage.

The very first match on Wednesday begins at 8:45 a.m. ET, and features European Ryder Cup teammates Rory McIlroy and Ian Poulter. World No. 1 Dustin Johnson will take on Adam Long in the second-to-last match of the day, beginning at 2:15 p.m. ET.
