The best players on the PGA Tour are all in Los Angeles this week for the 2021 Genesis Invitational hosted by Tiger Woods. Here’s everything you need to know to watch the tournament.
Genesis Invitational Preview
Woods will be on site at Riviera for the tournament he hosts, but you won’t see him in his traditional black and red attire come Sunday. Due to a recent back surgery, Tiger won’t be teeing it up at the Genesis. But a host of the hottest players in the game will make up for his absence inside the ropes.
Leading the way is World No. 1 Dustin Johnson. Johnson is the top-ranked golfer for a reason: he’s won twice in his last three events. Everyone remembers his triumph at the Masters in November, and two weeks ago he took his talents to the European Tour and won the Saudi International. But DJ has only made one start in the U.S. so far this year (at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Hawaii), and zero in the lower 48. This week he’s back in action with his A-game in tow.
Johnson will face some stiff competition, including Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas and a resurgent Jordan Spieth. After years of struggles, the three-time major champion is starting to turn a corner in a big way. He nearly won the last two PGA Tour events, eventually finishing T4 at the Waste Management Phoenix Open and T3 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Will we see Spieth make his long-awaited return to the winner’s circle this weekend?
