The regular season is over on the PGA Tour, with the FedEx Cup Playoffs kicking off this week at the 2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship. According to the FedEx St. Jude Championship betting odds via BetMGM, Rory McIlroy leads a long list of PGA Tour stars as the betting favorite. Here’s what you need to know.

2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship odds: This week’s favorites

Despite failing to capture his fifth major on Sunday at the 2022 Open Championship at St. Andrews, Rory McIlroy has still had a great season, with two wins among his eight top-10 finishes and only one missed cut amid the 13 tournaments he’s played. That record is good enough to make him the betting favorite at the playoff opener, to the tune of +1000 odds to win.

But McIlroy has plenty of company near the top. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler comes in just behind Rory at +1400. Tied for third are the man who overcame Rory at the Old Course, Cameron Smith, and the defending FedEx Cup champion Patrick Cantlay (both at +1600).

With PGA champion Justin Thomas (+1800), U.S. Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick (+2200), back-to-back winner Tony Finau (+2200) and Jordan Spieth (+2800) also among the top 10, this is going to be one of the most difficult tournaments to pick a winner. Good luck.

2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship odds: Long shot of the week

Our long shot for the first FedEx Cup Playoffs event is pro golf journeyman Ryan Brehm. Brehm is responsible for one of the best stories of the regular season. In his last start with Tour eligibility at the Puerto Rico Open in March, Brehm went out and captured his first PGA Tour victory to keep his career alive, and he did so with his wife on the bag.

In recent weeks, Brehm finished T31 at the 3M Open and T57 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. He opened last week’s Wyndham Championship with a stellar 66 before struggling to a 74 in the second round to miss the cut.

Brehm just snuck into the playoffs, but now that he’s in, the sky is the limit. At +50000, he has some of the worst odds to win in Memphis, but the payout would be substantial if he can pull it off. A miraculous Brehm win would turn a small $10 bet into $5,000.
