Gimme that: This insulated cup is the perfect daily companion

Yeti Rambler

If you need a new cup, this Yeti iteration is a perfect choice.

Welcome to Gimme That, a GOLF.com column where we’ll highlight one notable item we think you might like. Whether it’s an article of clothing, an intriguing electronic device or anything in between, we want to share these items with you because they’ve generated a bit of chatter by our water cooler (or, these days, on our Slack channel). So sit back, scroll down and keep up with the latest gear golf has to offer.

As an Arizonan — and mom of two — toting cups of water around for both me and my little humans is an essential daily activity. Each kid has their own retractable straw cup that accompanies them to school each day, and until recently, so did I. Until disaster struck.

My daughter tossed my beloved Amazon jug — the ultra-cheesy one, with the words of encouragement listed next to the ounces — on the floor of the car just so, so the straw mechanism broke and the jug leaked constantly.

I’ve since been through no fewer than three additional insulated cups. The first was a fixed-straw cup, but the lid was always coming loose, resulting in more leaks. The third was a nice Yeti giveaway from the Charles Schwab Cup, but there was no straw, just a sippy lid, and it was small. Filled with ice, it barely lasted through a single outing. I then sprung for a big pink cup from Target. This one had a sippy lid and straw, but the base is too wide to fit in my car cupholder.

See where I’m going with this? The perfect insulated cup can be an elusive thing. That’s why I’m pegging this Yeti beaut as my next — and hopefully final — buy. Straw lid? Check. Big enough? Twenty-six ounces, check. Will it fit in my car? Yes. I’m sold!
