The 2022 Players Championship is here, the first truly big tournament of the season, and with all the best players in the field, the betting favorites are no surprise. The Players Championship odds via BetMGM feature two players leading the way who have been fighting for the No. 1 ranking since last year. Here’s what you need to know.

Players Championship odds: This week’s favorites

Jon Rahm and Collin Morikawa have occupied the top two spots in the Official World Golf Ranking all year. Similarly, they’ve been among the favorites to win every time they’ve teed it up. But neither major winner has captured a victory in 2022. Could this be the week that changes?

Rahm comes in first with the best chances to win at +1200, followed by Morikawa and Justin Thomas at +1400. Two other players in the Top 15 worth a look are Billy Horschel and Jordan Spieth. Both players have been threating leaderboards all season, and both have +4000 odds to take home the Players trophy.

Players Championship odds: Long shot of the week

It’s not often we get a two-time major champion to play the role of our longshot, but Zach Johnson fits the bill this week. The 46-year-old veteran will be the U.S. Ryder Cup captain in Rome next year, but he’s still got plenty of game left in the tank. Johnson recorded three top-10s last season already has two top-25s in the new season, including a T14 at the American Express.

Johnson’s odds sit at +30,000 to win this week, but he’s proven that he plays his best golf when he’s playing big tournaments at historic courses (see: Augusta National, Old Course at St. Andrews). Should he pull off the unlikely victory, a $100 bet could earn you $30,000.
