Speculation about a new Srixon iron release began when GOLF.com’s Fully Equipped Instagram page spotted Harold Varner III with unreleased “ZX7” irons that the company didn’t yet speak on. At the time, we were left to wonder whether ZX irons would be part of Srixon’s replacements for its popular Z-series irons, which most recently featured the Z585 and Z785 models.
Well, speculate no longer. Srixon has officially launched new ZX5, ZX7 and ZX Utility irons that are set to hit retail on January 15, 2021.
The defining technological feature of the new ZX irons is what Srixon calls the “MainFrame.” According to Srixon, the company developed the MainFrame using a combination of human design and Artificial Intelligence optimization. Essentially, the A.I.-assisted MainFrame design is a milled pattern of channels and cavities on the backside of the iron faces that help enhance ball speeds on shots hit across the face.
Also, the new ZX5 and ZX7 irons, which are forged from 1020 carbon steel, have Srixon’s familiar Tour V.T. Soles. The v-shape sole grinds that also appeared on the iron’s Z-series predecessors are designed to help improve turf interaction. Additionally, the new ZX irons have progressive grooves throughout their sets where the short irons (8-PW) have sharper, narrower and deeper grooves to impart more spin and control on approach shots.

Srixon ZX5 irons
As the replacement for Srixon’s previous Z585 irons, the new ZX5 irons are designed for the player who wants a forged feel and workability from their irons, but with a bit of forgiveness, too.
The ZX5 irons (8-piece set) will sell for $1,299.99 with steel shafts and $1,399.99 with graphite shafts.
Srixon ZX7 irons
Best suited for better players, the new ZX7 irons have more compact shapes, slimmer toplines and narrower soles than the ZX5 irons. Srixon says that mass has been repositioned in the ZX7 irons toward the sweet spot and the perimeter for a softer feel and greater workability.
The ZX7 irons (8-piece set) will sell for $1,299.99 with stock steel shafts.
Srixon ZX utility
Srixon says the new ZX Utility irons are smaller than the company’s previous driving irons. Like the ZX5 and ZX7 irons, the ZX Utility irons have the MainFrame face design to boost ball speed. Additionally, for even more speed, the utility irons also have a hollow-bodied, multi-piece constructions.
The ZX Utility irons will sell for $219.99 apiece.
