Notable pairings for AT&T Byron Nelson Round 3
Jordan Spieth was the story of the day on Thursday, after firing an opening round of nine-under 63 to co-lead the field with J.J. Spaun by one shot. But the scores are outrageously low this week, and it’s tough to stay on top if you aren’t posting continual red numbers. After a second-round 70, Spieth dropped all the way to T6 on Friday — 11-under overall, and a whopping six shots behind 36-hole leader Sam Burns, who lit it up with a round of 10-under 60, bringing him to 17-under overall, and making him the leader by two shots over Sweden’s Alex Noren.
Burns is on a bit of a hot streak, having won his first PGA Tour event earlier this month at the Valspar Championship. He’ll play in the final pairing on Saturday afternoon alongside Noren at 2:00 p.m. ET, while Spieth will play with Spaun in the third-to-last pairing at 1:40 p.m. ET.
Other notable pairings include Will Zalatoris and Hideki Matsuyama at 9:20 a.m. ET, Jon Rahm and Pat Perez at 10:25 a.m. ET, Charles Howell III and Lee Westwood at 12:10 p.m. ET and Matt Kuchar and Patton Kizzire at 1:30 p.m. ET.
