Previewing Open Round 3
The cut has been made at the 150th Open, and a star-studded leaderboard awaits what will be a historic weekend at St. Andrews.
Australian pro Cameron Smith is in the lead after undressing the Old Course on Friday for an eight-under 64. The 28-year-old has had near-misses at the majors so far this year, but he’ll have another golden opportunity on Saturday.
Trailing Smith by two shots at 11 under is another Cameron, PGA Tour rookie Cameron Young, who had his own dance with major destiny at the PGA in May. Pre-tournament favorite Rory McIlroy is tied for third with Viktor Hovland at 10 under after shooting a second-round 68.
And LIV Golf pro Dustin Johnson is another shot back at nine under, with World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler not far behind.
