***UPDATE: Play will resume at the Mayakoba Golf Classic at 10:55 a.m. ET***

Final round play at the Mayakoba Golf Classic has been suspended Sunday due to inclement weather.

The PGA Tour announced the suspension of play shortly after 9:00 a.m. ET on Sunday, shortly before leaders Emilliano Grillo, Tom Hoge and Viktor Hovland were set to tee off in the final grouping.

The pause comes as a row of thunderstorms are set to descend upon the Playa Del Carmen area, home of the Greg Norman-designed El Cameleon course hosting this week’s Tour event.

The PGA Tour communications department shared that players have left the course as we the storms roll through, but declined to give a timeline for a return to play.

According to the Weather Channel, storms are expected to continue until around 11:00 a.m. ET, while another batch of storms is expected to hit the area around 7:00 p.m. ET. In the meantime, heavy rains caused by the storms have drenched the golf course, leaving large puddles across fairways and greens.

Grillo, Hoge and Hovland join Justin Thomas, Tony Finau and Joaquin Niemann among the stars who have yet to tee off on Sunday due to the delay.

It remains to be seen whether the delay, which has run more than 90 minutes, will affect the Mayakoba’s ability to squeeze in a Sunday finish prior to sundown, which is expected at 6:07 p.m. local time.
