A great year just got even better for Jordan Spieth and his wife, Annie, who announced the birth of their first child together, a boy they named Sammy Spieth.
Spieth made the announcement with a post on Instagram on Thursday, saying the baby was born on November 14th.
“Sammy Spieth born 11/14 💙 Mama and baby doing great!” the new father wrote. “Feeling blessed!”
Spieth confirmed that he and Annie were expecting a baby back in September after the second round of the Tour Championship, and that the couple had decided to wait until the baby’s birth to find out the gender.
The new parents have a long relationship history: Jordan and Annie were high-school sweethearts and got engaged in 2017, then were married in 2018.
The birth is a fitting exclamation point on what has been a resurgent year for Spieth, who ended a four-year winless streak by claiming the Valero Texas Open in April.
Spieth posted a total of nine top-10s and 14 top-25 finishes last season, earning over $6.4 million, and went 1-2-1 at the Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits.
