Thursday’s opening round had a familiar feel. As is often the case at U.S. Opens, the scoring was tough, with only four players going under par on Day 1 at Lancaster Country Club. Especially so for World No. 1 Nelly Korda, who made a shocking 10 on the 12th hole and finished with an 80.

Another familiar factor was the player on top of the leaderboard: 22-yearold Yuka Saso. Saso, who shot a two-under 68 on Thursday to earn a one-shot lead, won the 2021 U.S. Women’s Open. Her quest for a second title in four years continues on Friday.
