The 2023 John Deere Classic begins this week in Illinois, and we’re picking a winless 26-year-old pro as our long-shot to watch. Here’s our pick, the John Deere Classic odds, betting favorites and everything else you need to know for the week.
John Deere Classic odds: Long-shot bet
For this week’s long shot, we’re picking Dylan Wu at +6600 odds-to-win.
The 26 year old from Oregon, who is a Northwestern alum and lives in Illinois, is just getting started in his PGA Tour career, but he’s showing signs that great play is right around the corner.
Wu only has one top-10 finish on the season, coming at the Honda Classic, but he’s made a ton of cuts. In 23 starts so far this season, he’s only missed the weekend seven times.
At last week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic, Wu contended before finishing T24 at 14 under, undone by a Sunday 74.
At last year’s John Deere Classic, Wu finished T43 but put together an impressive five-under final round.
Should you put $10 on Wu to win and he captures his first PGA Tour victory at the John Deere, you’ll win $660. For additional insurance bets, put some money on Wu to finish top 20 or top 10.
Looking for more long-shots to bet on? This week’s long-shot honorable mentions are Peter Kuest (+6600) and Gordon Sargent (+6600).
John Deere Classic odds: The favorites
Most PGA Tour stars are taking the week off, leaving some lesser-known pros to lead the betting favorites.
Denny McCarthy and Russell Henley are out in front with +1400 odds.
Adam Hadwin, who lost to Rickie Fowler in a playoff at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, is tied for fifth with +2800 odds.
