The patrons were out in the thousands lining the 1st tee as Tiger Woods hit the first shot of his latest comeback on Thursday in the opening round of the 2022 Masters. And Tiger didn’t disappoint the many fans that had gathered to witness it all, grinding out a key par at the opening hole with a clutch 10-foot putt.
It was a wild scene on the hallowed grounds of Augusta National, and it only continued from there over the rest of the day, most notably when Woods made his first birdie of the day after a near-ace at the 6th hole.
There’s little doubt that the atmosphere will be similar on Friday for the second round, but one aspect will be different. Woods will switch to an afternoon tee time for Round 2. He’ll get his second 18 started at 1:41 p.m. ET and will once again play with Louis Oosthuizen and Joaquin Niemann.
