Justin Thomas is making noise in the FedEx Cup Playoffs once again. The 2017 FedEx Cup champ didn’t have the best of seasons by his high standards, but after one round at the Northern Trust, he’s positioned himself for a run at Cup No. 2. Thomas was hot right out of the gates on Thursday, making five birdies over his first nine holes. He finished with an impressive eight-under 63.

But that only earned JT a share of the 18-hole lead. His co-leader? None other than World No. 1 Jon Rahm, who showed no signs of rust following his brief hiatus from the Tour on the way to his own opening-round 63.

Both Thomas and Rahm will get their second round started early on Friday. Thomas tees off at 8:15 a.m. ET alongside Bryson DeChambeau and Sam Burns, and Rahm follows in the very next group at 8:26 a.m. ET with Harris English and Abraham Ancer.
