The 2020-21 PGA Tour season kicks off this week with the 2020 Safeway Open, beginning with the first round on September 10, 2020, in Napa, Calif. You can find full first round tee times at the bottom of this post.
Notable pairings for Safeway Open Round 1
While many PGA Tour pros are taking the week off to recover from the FedEx Cup Playoffs and prepare for next week’s U.S. Open at Winged Foot, there are still a number of top players with stellar resumes in the field at the Safeway. No resume is more stellar than that of Phil Mickelson.
After taking a brief detour to the Champions Tour (where he won his debut tournament), Mickelson is back in the big leagues this week in his home state of California. Phil will begin the first round on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. ET alongside reigning Open champion Shane Lowry and Brendan Steele.
Three-time major champion Jordan Spieth is also in the field this week, still searching for the game that brought him to the forefront of the sport just a few years ago. Spieth will play the first round with another burgeoning Champions Tour star, Jim Furyk, and Brandt Snedeker. They tee off at 3:30 p.m. ET.
