Here’s what you missed from Round 2 of the Memorial

The PGA Tour’s annual sojourn to Jack’s Place — Muirfield Village — is already halfway over. The weekend should be lots of fun, though, because the leaderboard is fantastic.

Here’s everything you missed from Friday’s action at the Memorial.

Three rather unexpected names share the top spot on the leaderboard after 36 holes: Troy Merritt, Kyoung-Hoon Lee and Martin Kaymer.

Merritt, who had six birdies and an eagle on Friday, has two PGA Tour wins on his resume. Lee has won three times internationally but never on the PGA Tour, and two-time major champion Martin Kaymer hasn’t won on Tour since his romp at the 2014 U.S. Open at Pinehurst.

After firing rounds of 70-72, Tiger Woods is two under par overall and seven shots behind the leaders. The Big Cat was putting together a pretty good round but was unfortunately derailed by a costly double bogey on the 15th hole.

Still, the fact that he’s around for the weekend means extra reps as he prepares for the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach in less than two weeks.

Jordan Spieth’s positive momentum is continuing. He’s only one shot back at eight under par overall after firing a second-round 72.

He’s 1 stroke off the lead.

Adam Scott and Rickie Fowler are two shots back at seven under par overall. Justin Rose is three shots back at six under, and Xander Schauffele is four shots back at five under.

Did we mention the leaderboard is stacked?

Every player who shot one over par or better will play the weekend at the Memorial.

Notable players bidding Ohio goodbye on Friday include Rory McIlroy (+2), Matt Kuchar (+3), Keegan Bradley (+4), Cameron Champ, Jason Day and Phil Mickelson (+5), and Tony Finau and Justin Thomas (+7).
