Keegan Bradley and Tommy Fleetwood pulled away from the field

Team Europe’s Ryder Cup hero Tommy Fleetwood surged to the top of the leaderboard on Friday, powered by not one, but two eagles and four birdies. His score of six-under-par 66 matched the low round of the day.

Fleetwood has five international titles on his resume, but has yet to win on the PGA Tour.

Bradley shot a second round of 68, with six birdies and two bogeys. He’s seeking his fifth career Tour victory, after memorably ending his six-year win drought at last year’s BMW Championship.

The two players lead their nearest rivals, six players tied for third, by four shots.

Some big names missed the cut

Brooks Koepka shots rounds of 74-73 to miss the cut by two shots.

Phil Mickelson — who was in the mix at the top of the leaderboard after Thursday’s round — shot a second round of 78 to miss the cut by a shot.

Last week's champ is lurking

After demonstrating some clutch play down the stretch at last week’s Honda Classic to overtake Brooks Koepka and Rickie Fowler, Keith Mitchell is lurking once again.

Playing in only his second full year on Tour, Mitchell is in the group of players tied for third after shooting 71-68.

There's still hope for the tournament headliners

Though Brooks and Phil are heading home, Rickie, Rory and Justin Rose survived the cut and will continue to play this weekend.

After a rough 38 on the front nine, Fowler bounced back with a 33 on the back to shoot 71 and make the cut on the number.

Rory shot two under on Friday day and is T31 at two under overall, while Justin Rose also shot two under to sit at three under overall, currently T17 and six shot back of the lead.

And here's a feel-good story for the weekend

How’s this for a nice story: Sam Saunders, grandson of the King himself, Arnold Palmer, shot four-under-par 68 on Friday to finish at three under par overall. Not only did he make the cut for the first time in three years, he’s also only six shots behind the leaders, currently T17.

And check out this excellent putt he drained!
