As the PGA Tour swings to the Midwest, there’s a new man to beat in the field at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. Bryson DeChambeau enters the week as the favorite in Detroit, fresh off a trio of top 10s (the benefit of some newly added body mass) since the Tour’s return in Texas earlier this month.
DeChambeau enters the week with 6/1 odds according to golfodds.com, a healthy margin ahead of Webb Simpson, who goes to Detroit with 12/1 odds. Simpson withdrew from last week’s Travelers Championship — just days removed from his win at the RBC Heritage — after a family member tested positive for Covid-19. He’ll look to regain that momentum as he tees it up at the Rocket Mortgage Classic for the first time.
Patrick Reed owns 16/1 odds in Detroit with Hideki Matsuyama and Tyrrell Hatton close behind at 18/1 odds. Reed and Matsuyama return to the event after top-15 finishes last season while Hatton will be making his debut. Rounding out the top five are young stars Sungjae Im and Viktor Hovland, who sit at 20/1 odds.
