It's time to take your golf-watching experience to the next level.

Chirp

If you’re prone to the time-honored ritual of a Sunday afternoon golf nap, we’ve got bad news and good news. The bad news is that your Sunday slumbers might be gone forever. The good news is that, with Chirp, you and your buddies won’t ever miss them.

Chirp is a new golf-gaming platform that allows users to place live bets using fake money to win amazing, real-life prizes. The app, which is owned by GOLF.com‘s parent company, 8AM Golf, and presented by Cisco, is designed to inject the adrenaline of live gambling into a fun, risk-free contest.

Why this new golf-gaming app will keep you riveted to every PGA Tour event

Play alone or with a group of your buddies by downloading the app, creating an account, either joining a friend’s league or creating your own league (or both —you can be in as many leagues as you’d like) and strapping in for hours of high-stakes awesomeness.

Here’s how it works, including how you can use the app to win golf vacations, new clubs and other other custom prizes.

What is Chirp?

Chirp is a free-to-play golf-betting platform with a catch — there’s no real money up for grabs. Rather, the goal is for users to both make the right picks and out-earn their competitors.

You can think of it as a hybrid between full-blown betting, daily fantasy and fantasy sports — a place where players compete against one another to earn the highest amount of money each week. Those who prevail will win real-life prizes.

How does Chirp work?

With Chirp, players are given $10,000 of fake money each week to spread as they wish across the tournament field. Players can place wagers for as little as $5 and as much as $10,000. Then, once the tournament begins, each player is given $5,000 per day for live-betting. Just be sure to move quickly, because you have only 30 seconds to place a live wager.

Chirp’s live-betting feature allows you to bet on individual shots.

There’s no catch and no cost to you, just sign up, tune in to the action, place your bets and have a blast.

How do I compete against other bettors?

Once you create an account, you’ll automatically enter Chirp’s “global league.” Wager your fake sum of $10,000 across your picks and bets for the week, and don’t forget to check back on each tournament day to place your $5,000 live bets. At the end of the week, the players with the highest total globally are awarded their choice of real-life, one-of-a-kind golf prizes.

If you’re looking to battle it out with your buddies, you and your friends can also create your own private league. Just like the public event, every member of the league is given a fake sum of $10,000 to wager on their choices for the week and $5,000 each day for live-betting. At the end of the week, the player with the highest dollar total wins!

What prizes can I win?

With the Chirp app, you can win any number of sweet golf prizes, from all-inclusive getaways to brand new gear.

For this week’s Masters, here are some of the amazing prizes available via the Chirp app:

-An all-inclusive, two-night Cabot Links vacation

-A full club fitting at TrueSpec Golf plus a free, full set of custom clubs from Fairway Jockey

-A $500 gift card to the GOLF.com Pro Shop

-A two-night, stay-and-play vacation at the Wynn Las Vegas & Wynn Golf Club

-A set of limited-edition, TaylorMade Masters headcovers

-A pair of Miura wedges

-A Nicklaus swag bag featuring limited-edition Golden Bear accessories

How do I get started?

Download the Chirp app on your phone or tablet here and create an account for free. Then create a league for your buddies and invite them — Chirp is way more fun when you play with friends. Then, get your picks in, cross your fingers and prep for hours of adrenaline-pumping fun coming your way this weekend.

The app reviewed in this article is owned by GOLF.com’s parent company, 8AM Golf.
