Watch this montage of Viktor Hovland’s intense workout routine

Viktor Hovland's workout routine has been a hit on social media since his win.

Viktor Hovland accomplished a lot this weekend.

He became the first Norwegian to win on the PGA Tour with his dramatic victory in Puerto Rico. He gave golf Twitter another golden soundbite, a recurring theme for the earnest Hovland. And he even wowed social media with his workout routine in a video posted by the Titleist Performance Institute.

Not a bad few days for the 22-year-old.

The video, which was posted shortly after Hovland drained a 20-foot birdie putt to win the Puerto Rico Open, shows a montage of his training with Kim Røtnes-Jensen. The video has a little bit of everything, from kick boxing to box jumps and even some hand-eye coordination drills. Watch the video for yourself below.

The caption also offers some advice.

“If you want to improve explosiveness, train explosively,” the caption reads.

Hovland definitely looks the part of an explosive golfer. The young star is averaging 304 yards off the tee during his rookie season, up from 301 yards last season. In addition, he ranks ninth on Tour in SG: Off-the-Tee. His length off the tee was one of the keys to his Puerto Rico Open win as he ranked 14th for the week, averaging 291 yards off the tee. The figure may not be as gaudy as the numbers from Mexico over the weekend, but it stood up in the soggy conditions.

The only weak spot in his game these days appears to be his chipping, which Hovland declared he “sucked” at during his post-round interview. The stats back up the assertion, too, as he sits 232nd on Tour in SG: Around the Green.

The training video is a mesmerizing compilation and a reminder just how hard some pro golfers train. If anyone tries to tell you golfers aren’t real athletes, point them in the direction of this video and they should be singing a different tune.
