NICKLAUS COMPANIES
Nicklaus Companies is recognized as a world leader in golf-course design, with over 435 courses worldwide open for play in 45 countries and 40 U.S states. Now? They’re venturing into the exciting and popular world of golf shoes thanks to a new partnership with Boxto Golf.
Boxto was founded by one of Mexico’s most successful businessmen, Raul Flores, who was inspired to create the Boxto brand after his friend gifted him a “stunning whitish-gray authentic crocodile leather belt” before a round on the links. He searched high and low for a pair of shoes to perfectly match the belt, but he kept coming up empty. In that pivotal moment, Flores had an idea. He wanted to create a brand that not only reflected the elegance of the authentic alligator belt but also captured the spirit of the game. Boxto belts and shoes was in the works.
And the idea proved to be a success. Today, each pair is handcrafted in Raul’s hometown of Leon, Mexico — one of the world’s major manufacturing centers for luxury leather goods — where they use only the finest materials and cutting-edge technology to deliver unparalleled comfort, style and performance.
Fast forward to today, and Boxto has five player ambassadors — Jim Furyk, Charley Hull, Kurt Kitayama, Max McGreevy and Logan McAllister.
Now, as GOLF announced last week, Nicklaus Companies and Boxto are teaming up to create two premium handcrafted Nicklaus-branded golf shoes. Both teams were on hand at the PGA Show last week to talk about the partnership.
“It’s a momentous honor for Boxto to be named a licensee for the Nicklaus brand,” Flores said. “Like the Nicklaus Companies, we revere tradition, quality and innovation. We are excited to be entrusted with playing a role in working with Nicklaus Companies to carry this legacy forward.”
The new shoes will be offered in Boxto’s two most popular styles — the Legacy Pro, featuring cutting-edge performance and comfort, and Heritage Malaga, which embraces a trendy, traditional inspiration. The shoes are beautifully timeless while encompassing peak-modern performance (as I saw for myself in Orlando last week).
The Legacy Pro ($249) is a white, plain-toe shoe with a navy outsole featuring a heel counter with a gold pin depicting the iconic Golden Bear logo and the Jack Nicklaus Signature trademark on the outsole. The Heritage Malaga ($449) is a white, wingtip shoe showcasing the Golden Bear logo in the center of the outsole. The Legacy Pro and Heritage Malaga are both full-grain leather, water-repellant and equipped with FTS 3.0 cleats by SoftSpikes.
“Nicklaus Companies is excited to be collaborating with a brand that celebrates the traditions of the game while at the same time bringing innovation, performance and modern styling to the consumer,” said Phil Cotton, the CEO of Nicklaus Companies. “The premium hand-crafted, artisanal nature of their footwear is unique and aligns with our brand values. We were impressed by not only Boxto’s exquisite tour-validated shoes for both men and women, but the vision Raul and his team have for their brand.”
Orders are anticipated to begin shipping in April. You can find them at Boxto Golf or Fairway Jockey. You can also take a look below at the classic Boxto styles that inspired the Nicklaus collaboration.
