Cobra Golf

With the continued success of their Snakebite wedges, Cobra Golf is drawing on history to offer a new glare-resistant raw finish, in all three of their grind options. They’re also adding additional loft options to their game improvement Snakebite-X line.

“We have a longstanding tradition of producing raw wedges, a legacy that traces back to Phil Rodgers, who created the original Trusty Rusty for Cobra Golf,” said Chad DeHart, a Sr. Product Line Manager at Cobra. “This non-plated wedge offers a softer feel, Tour-inspired aesthetics, and delivers the performance golfers look for in all playing conditions.”

Snakebite tech refresh

Cobra’s Snakebite wedges offer a traditional teardrop shape and are offered in multiple loft and bounce combinations to help golfers find the best options to suit their short game and approach needs.

The Snakebite name comes from the groove design intended to deliver the most aggressive groove possible for performance on every shot, which is also why the groove geometry varies through the loft options.

The 48- to 54-degree lofts use an optimized traditional groove design that is deep and narrower to help channel moisture and debris away from the impact area as quickly as possible. On the other hand, the 56- to 60-degree lofts feature full-face grooves that are wider and more shallow to maximize spin on shots hit at a lower speed and with a more open-face angle.

Snakebite grind options

The three grind options are versatile, classic, and wide low. The versatile is designed to work best in medium to firm conditions for golfers who like to manipulate the face angle. The classic is a great all-around option, especially for players who tend to take larger divots, and the wide-low grind offers (as the name suggests) a wide sole, but with lower bounce making it great for softer conditions and out of the sand.

Snakebite-X

The game improvement Snakebite-X wedges — which feature a cavity back design and soft TPU insert to fine-tune sound and feel — offer full face grooves for extra spin around the entire face. The new lofts of 50, 54, and 60 degrees bring the total loft options to seven ranging, from 48 to 60 degrees in two-degree increments.
