Bettinardi BB40 Putter Review: ClubTest 2016

May 17, 2016

CATEGORY: Midsize Mallet Putters
PRICE: $300
WE TESTED: 34″, 35″ length
KEY TECHNOLOGIES: A modern, iridescent finish complements the classic head shape.

DISTANCE CONTROL: Very strong performer from 20 feet and in; the ball rolls pure and true off the center of the hexagon-patterned face; club weight and balance make it easy to find the range from long or middle distances.
FEEL: A wonderfully soft milled face; solid and satisfying on center impact; the head moves effortlessly down the path when you make a good stroke.
LOOK: The burnished rainbow finish and green accents give the black head a cool modern look; easy on the eyes — the head and single alignment line help with aim.

Loses some distance on toe and heel hits, so it favors a consistent stroke; one or two guys need time to hone distance on long putts; for a couple of testers, the lime green paint fill cheapens an otherwise high-end appearance.

BOTTOM LINE: This gorgeous, face-balanced putter will benefit players with a straight-back-and-through or slightly arcing stroke. The BB40 is one of the top putters because of its precise feedback and standout looks.
