Viktor Hovland of Norway plays his shot from the 18th tee during the second round of The Sentry at Plantation Course at Kapalua Golf Club on January 05, 2024 in Kapalua, Hawaii.

With grips being the vital connection between you and your golf clubs, we decided to find out how Ping's best players have theirs set up.

From shaft flex and weight, down to loft, and even hosel settings, the golf club specs of the best players in the world are an interesting deep dive. One of the most underappreciated components of their clubs is their grips, and specifically how they are spec’d out. But today we’re going to dig into that.

Below is comprehensive information on the grips and tape combinations that keep the best players in the world firmly secured to their clubs.

But before we dig into the specs, here’s a quick note to help you decode the information. The number and letter combination (60R, for example) represents the inside diameter of the grip in inches, so 60 equals .60 inches, and the R denotes a round grip. X means that the grip offers a rib or reminder for additional alignment help.

PING G430 Max 10K Custom Driver

The G430 MAX 10K is PING’s straightest and highest MOI driver to date, eclipsing the 10,000 g-cm2 combined moment of inertia threshold first surpassed by the G400 MAX five years earlier. FIXED BACK WEIGHT The fixed back weight allows for the record-setting MOI as it drives mass down and back to increase forgiveness and optimize the center of gravity position. LARGER HEAD PROFILE PING’s biggest head profile to date maximizes the USGA-allowable heel-toe and front-back dimensions while staying within the 460cc volume limit. This eye-pleasing shape helps square the golfer to the target and inspires the confidence to hit longer, straighter tee shots.
