I the age of yearly product launch cycles, drivers get all the hype every year.
But for our Fully Equipped team, we’re a little more intrigued by iron launches and the summer of 2025 figures to be a big one.
Most companies, whether they keep an annual or biennial metalwood launch cycle, stick to a two-to-three-year launch cycle for their iron lines. While it’s not always a guarantee, there figures to be at least four, maybe even five iron launches this summer between July 1st and October 1st.
On this week’s episode of GOLF’s Fully Equipped, Johnny Wunder explained why he can’t wait for his first summer of iron launches since leaving Callaway earlier this year.
“To me, that’s where like all the nuance happens, right?” Wunder said. “Drivers are like, all right, they all go fast and far and straight, blah, blah, blah… But irons are interesting because I think iron R&D guys are the most interesting R&D guys. Because all the club dorks work in iron R&D.

“Those guys are super dorky and they’re like my favorite people to talk to because they’re really cool guys, but they’re also club dorks. So iron launches are always fun, a lot to look forward to.”
We obviously don’t know exactly who is going to be releasing new irons this summer, but we can tell you whose irons have been on the market for a while.
Titleist has stuck to a two-year product cycle for all their clubs with even years being metal woods and odd years being for irons and wedges. Titleist’s third generation of the T-series lineup was released in 2023.
Mizuno has alternated releasing the Mizuno Pro line and the JPX line and they just released the JPX 925 line last fall. They also added the new Mizuno Pro S-3 the lineup, but the 24X series will be two years old this fall.
Ping’s Blueprint T and Blueprint S lines are not yet a year old, but the popular i230 irons have been on the market since 2022.
The popular Callaway Apex Pro, CB and MB irons have been on the market since 2023.
And who knows what else could possibly be due for a refresh this summer? We’ll just have to wait and see!
