Few live events are being played these days, so it’s no surprise many sports fans have come together to watch ESPN’s The Last Dance on Sunday nights. Phil Mickelson is among them.
Mickelson joined The Dan Patrick Show on Monday morning to talk about Michael Jordan, his upcoming charity match and more, and Mickelson revealed he’s actually about to join a new golf club — the one MJ owns.
“I’m actually in the process of joining his club there in Florida, The Grove, which he built and is really a cool place,” Mickelson said. “He did an exceptional job there.”
Jordan’s golf course, The Grove XXIII, opened in the fall of 2019 near Hobe Sound, Fla. It’s uber-exclusive and invite only. But of course, it’s not difficult for 44-time PGA Tour winners like Mickelson to be offered a spot.
“Fortunately I know a number of members there,” Mickelson said. “My wife and I just bought a lot fairly close to there, it’s only about 10-15 minutes away, so it will be a great place to play and practice.”
Mickelson says it’s been a while since he last played golf with Jordan, but both are quite famous for their gambling tales on the links. Safe to say they’ll find time to tee it up together when Mickelson joins and makes it official.
