Where is Whistling Straits? Everything to know about the Ryder Cup host’s locale

After an extended wait, the Ryder Cup is finally back. It’s been three years since the Europeans thumped the Americans in Paris, and the Yanks are hungry for revenge. And luckily for Team USA, they’ll be looking to earn the Cup back on U.S. soil.

This week’s Ryder Cup will be contested at Whistling Straits, the Wisconsin gem famous for its picturesque views and dramatic finishing stretch. But while you’ve likely heard of Whistling Straits, you might still be asking yourself, Where the heck is this course, anyways? If this sounds familiar, you’re forgiven. Not everyone is a golf nerd with an encyclopedic knowledge of course locations.

Whistling Straits is located on the coast of Lake Michigan, roughly 60 miles north of Milwaukee. The location provides for some superb vistas, but also allows the winds from the Great Lakes to whip across the property. Drive another 60 miles north along I43 and you’ll find yourself in Green Bay — home of famed Lambeau Field and the Packers.
