Vijay Singh shot his best career round on the PGA Tour Champions to come from six back and win the Charles Schwab Cup Championship on Sunday at Phoenix Country Club.
Singh’s 10-under 61 was good for a four-shot victory, and it also handed the Schwab Cup (and $1 million bonus) to Bernhard Langer for the fourth time in the last five years.
Scott McCarron could have won the Schwab Cup if he won the season finale, but he shot 72 and tied for third. He still brought home a $500,000 bonus for finishing as the Schwab Cup runner-up.
Singh finished 22 under overall. It’s the 55-year-old’s third win of the season. He finished fourth in the Schwab Cup.
“The way they were scoring all week, I thought if I got to 20 [under], I might finish top five,” Singh said. “I birdied the first two, hit it close at 4. I just kept going.”
