The 2020 U.S. Open is heading back to historic Winged Foot Golf Club, and the network that covered the U.S. Open for 20 years is back to bring you this year’s event. The action begins with the opening round on Thursday, Sept. 17. Here’s everything you need to know about watching the event on TV.

What channel is the U.S. Open on?

For the first time in five years, NBC will broadcast the U.S. Open on national television. Fox Sports carried the previous five tournaments, but now NBC is back to take the reins once again.

NBC will have coverage of all four rounds, including a marathon eight and a half hours of Saturday’s third round, but it won’t be the only TV channel to catch U.S. Open action. Golf Channel will carry hours of coverage on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

While you can stream all those TV broadcasts at NBCSports.com, provided you have a cable subscription, there is a way to watch the U.S. Open online for free. Peacock, NBCUniversal’s new streaming service, will have two hours of exclusive coverage for each round, including the final two hours of Thursday’s first round and the first two hours of the final three rounds. It’s free, but you do have to sign up for a free Peacock account.

You can see a complete TV schedule for this week’s tournament below, along with a streaming schedule.
