U.S. Open odds to win: Brooks Koepka tied for best odds in search of three-peat

June 10, 2019

This week, Brooks Koepka will pursue his third consecutive U.S. Open title and fifth major in the last nine chances. And yet, somehow, it only falls in line with the bevy of other storylines at this week’s U.S. Open at Pebble Beach.

That might be the best summation of the week ahead. From Jordan Spieth’s quiet resurgence to Tiger Woods’ Pebble history to Phil Mickelson’s last best chance at his elusive U.S. Open to Rory McIlroy coming off a dominant performance north of the border, this U.S. Open will not be short on intrigue. And, oh yeah, there’s that Koepka guy looking to three-peat for the first time since Willie Anderson in 1905.

Koepka’s 8/1 odds, according to GolfOdds.com, are tied for the best with Dustin Johnson. Johnson has won twice at Pebble Beach in his career and held a 54-hole lead there at the 2010 U.S. Open. Woods and McIlroy slot in narrowly behind, with 10/1 odds to take the title. McIlroy comes into the week off blistering weekend rounds of 64 and 61 to win the Canadian Open by seven shots. Spieth, coming off the best stretch in over a year (with three consecutive top-10 finishes), has 14/1 odds. Patrick Cantlay (16/1), Justin Rose (20/1) and Rickie Fowler (20/1) come in close behind.

Meanwhile, Mickelson comes in with 30/1 odds to take home the career grand slam and the title of “oldest major champion ever.” To do it now, at Pebble Beach of all places, at this juncture in his career, would make for quite a story.
