Masters 2019: See the entire 2019 Masters field that will tee it up this week

April 8, 2019

The qualification process for the first major of the year is complete, so the 2019 Masters field is locked in. It’s one of the smallest Masters fields in over 20 years, but it’s filled with big stars and past champions all vying for the title.

The 2019 Masters field features a total of six amateurs from all over the world in keeping with Augusta National’s longtime tradition of using the Masters Tournament to support both amateur golf and the growth of the game internationally.

Amateurs in the Masters field

The amateur competitors in the 2019 Masters field include: Devon Bling (the 2018 U.S. Amateur runner-up) and Kevin O’Connell (2018 U.S. Mid Amateur champion) of the United States, Viktor Hovland of Norway (2018 U.S. Amateur champion), Takumi Kanaya of Japan (Asia-Pacific Amateur champion) Alvaro Ortiz of Mexico (2018 Latin America Amateur champion), and Jovan Rebula of South Africa (2018 British Amateur champion).

Past champions in the Masters field

But if you think the presence of six accomplished amateurs makes for a weak field, think again. The Masters field for 2019 also features a total of 20 former champions: Angel Cabrera, Fred Couples, Sergio Garcia, Trevor Immelman, Zach Johnson, Bernhard Langer, Sandy Lyle, Phil Mickelson, Larry Mize, Jose Maria Olazabal, Patrick Reed, Charl Schwartzel, Adam Scott, Vijay Singh, Jordan Spieth, Bubba Watson, Mike Weir, Danny Willett, Tiger Woods and Ian Woosnam.

And that long list of past champions does not include arguably the best players in the field. The top 11 players in the Official World Golf Ranking are all in the 2019 Masters field, yet none of them have ever won a green jacket. That list includes four-time major champion Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka, owner of three major titles, and the World’s No. 1 and No. 2-ranked golfers: Justin Rose and Dustin Johnson.

All in all, a total of 87 players will compete across four rounds at Augusta National this week. That’s the same number of competitors featured in the Masters field at last year’s event, won by Patrick Reed.

It’s the smallest Masters field since the 1997, when a 21-year-old Tiger Woods demolished a field of 86 to win by 12 and capture his first of four Masters victories.
