Tom Lewis leads Korn Ferry Tour Championship with PGA Tour cards up for grabs

September 1, 2019

Tom Lewis used a hot start to jump into the lead in the third round of the Korn Ferry Tour Championship at Victoria National on Sunday in Newburgh, Ind.

The 28-year-old Englishman tees off at 1:50 p.m. ET on Monday with a two-shot lead in the Korn Ferry season finale, where Lewis and dozens of other hopefuls will battle for 2019-20 PGA Tour cards and precious Tour priority.

“I put myself in a great position going into [Monday],” said Lewis, who shot 66 on Sunday and is looking to secure a PGA Tour card for the first time in his career. “I got off to a good start. It would be nice to go out tomorrow and do the same sort of thing. Be a bit more stress free on the back nine, because it’s tough out there.”

Lewis, who has won twice on the European Tour, has a two-shot lead over Lanto Griffin and leads Grayson Murray, Fabian Gomez and Scottie Scheffler by four.

The top 25 during the Korn Ferry regular season earned their PGA Tour cards for next season, and 25 more are up for grabs during the three-event Korn Ferry Tour Finals, which finishes with the Tour Championship on Monday and includes many established players who failed to maintain their PGA Tour cards for next season. Players who earned their cards during the regular season can also improve their priority ranking during the Finals.
