Tiger Woods practiced on the range and course on Sunday at Augusta National as the public awaits his decision on the 2022 Masters. Woods has kept the sports world on its toes speculating if the 15-time major champion will tee it up at the Masters, which begins Thursday at Augusta National Golf Club.

There always seemed to be a chance Woods would return to competitive golf at this year’s Masters, but the idea didn’t pick up steam until Woods flew to Augusta National on Tuesday. Then came Sunday, when Woods tweeted he was heading to Augusta again to “continue my preparation and practice.” He said it would be a game-time decision on whether he competes.

Woods hasn’t played an official event since the 2020 November Masters. He was the driver of a single-vehicle car accident in February 2021 and has since played only the PNC Championship with his son, Charlie, in December.

After Woods tweeted on Sunday that he was heading to the course, Augusta National released its interview schedule for the week. Woods was listed at 11 a.m. ET on Tuesday. But the interview schedule is no official confirmation.

Media members weren’t allowed on site at Augusta National most of Sunday afternoon after the Drive, Chip & Putt contest concluded, but there were still some reports of Woods’ time on the course.

According to reports, he practiced on the range for about 20 minutes before going off the par-4 10th tee with longtime confidante Rob McNamara and caddie Joe LaCava.

Billy Horschel spent time on the range watching Woods and talking to his crew, and he told reporters afterward that “he looked like the Tiger we saw before the accident, the way the swing looked and the speed.”

Billy Horschel watched Tiger hit balls Sunday, and estimates Tiger carried his driver 290.

"He looked like the Tiger we saw before the accident, the way the swing looked and the speed.

"For him to hopefully be playing – which I think he is – I think we’re all giddy about it."

And now we wait for Woods’ official decision, as the first major of 2022 gets underway on Thursday.
