Fans of 2000s golf video games rejoice!

For the first time since 2013, Tiger Woods will be on the cover of a video game.

Woods announced the most anticipated Tiger-related news of the week on this Twitter account Wednesday. The tweet shared two presumptive covers for ‘PGA Tour 2K23’ and said more information would be announced on Aug. 22.

2K, the game’s maker, announced a long-term agreement for Woods’ video game rights back in March 2021, shortly after his car crash which left him with severe injuries to his right leg. The company named Woods the executive director of the franchise.

Woods was the longtime face of the EA Sports PGA Tour franchise from 1998 until 2013. EA Sports and Woods ended their relationship after ‘Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14.’ EA Sports made one more PGA Tour series release with Rory McIlroy as the featured golfer in 2015, but has not made a release since.

August 2020 saw the return of the PGA Tour to video game consoles everywhere, as 2k released ‘PGA Tour 2K21’ with (noted Tiger-buddy) Justin Thomas on the cover.
