Join TodayThere are two major betting favorites at this week’s Texas Children’s Houston Open. Chances are you’ve heard of them.
Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy are the heavy betting favorites at Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston. According to Fanatics Sportsbook, Scheffler, who won seven times on the PGA Tour last season, is +350 to win, while McIlroy, coming off his victory at the Players Championship two weeks ago, is +650 to win. After that? You have to scroll down to find Aaron Rai (+2800) with the third-best odds to win.
Still with top-10 odds are Jason Day and J.J. Spaun, who Subpar co-hosts Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz are selecting for their Fanatics Sportsbook bets of the week — although not to win outright. Knost is picking Day to finish top 10 and Stoltz is picking Spaun for a top 20.
“A guy I feel is so close to wining again so why not finish in the top 10, he’s +350 for a top 10, so give me Jason Day,” Knost said.
Day is looking for his first win since the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson. He’s made the cut in all six starts this season and has finished T13 or better three times. He’s coming off a T8 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational (he withdrew from the Players Championship due to illness prior to the first round).
Spaun has three top 10s in nine starts this season, most notably his runner-up finish to McIlroy at the Players, when Spaun lost in a three-hole aggregate playoff.
“This guy is playing some pretty good golf right now,” Stoltz said. “He’s finished runner-up in two of his last three starts. Just kind of coming into his own, J.J. Spaun is +150 for a top 20. The way he is hitting the golf ball, his driving and his iron play is beautiful. He was close to having a couple of wins this season.”
