The 2019 Sentry Tournament of Champions is a unique event on the PGA Tour. The winners-only invitational was only open to 37 eligible players this year — and 34 decided to make the trek across the Pacific to the island paradise of Maui. Kapalua Resort’s Plantation Course is hosting for the 21st consecutive year.
Despite the absence of three big names (Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Justin Rose), the small Sentry TOC field is loaded with top-tier players.
Defending champ Dustin Johnson is the odds-on favorite at 5/1, but he’s closely followed by Jon Rahm at 7/1 and Brooks Koepka and Justin Thomas at 8/1. Johnson has two victories at the TOC since 2013.
A hefty $6.5 million purse is at stake, with $1.26 million going to the winner — including another invitation to tee it up in Maui again in 2020.
The Sentry Tournament of Champions begins Thursday.
