For World No. 2 Rory McIlroy, 2025 has been a whirlwind year in a good way. But the biggest moment of his season, and maybe career, was his Masters victory in April. With the major season now over, it appears McIlroy has resumed the celebration of his fifth major title in Saint-Tropez, France.
That’s based on a recent viral video of McIlroy smiling, dancing and dropping a huge green-jacket flex.
Rory McIlroy’s dancing green-jacket boast
Last week, McIlroy competed in his second Open Championship at Royal Portrush, not far from where he grew up in Northern Ireland. It was a huge moment for the star and his fans in his home country. And the pressure was on, given that when the Open last visited Portrush in 2019, he infamously missed the cut.
Not so this time. At the 2025 Open, McIlroy kept the crowd entertained all week, eventually polishing off a respectable T7 finish for his countrymen.
But as he said that week, McIlroy and the Portrush faithful also treated this year’s Open like a weeklong celebration for McIlroy’s Masters win which allowed him to complete the career Grand Slam.
It turns out the celebration didn’t end there. Following his emotional Open week, McIlroy travelled to Saint-Tropez, France, for some R&R.
In a viral video posted by @ziregolf, one fan came across McIlroy dancing at a bar during his sunny vacation. He quickly typed the following message on his phone, flashed it in McIlroy’s direction, and shouted the same question, “Where’s the green jacket?”
Once McIlroy, drink in hand, noticed the message, he pointed and smiled at the fan, then walked over to him and said, “It’s on the yacht!”
The golf legend danced away while smiling and laughing to continue celebrating with his friends.

What’s ahead for Rory McIlroy this season?
Given the enormity of McIlroy’s accomplishment at the Masters, it’s unlikely his celebration will ever truly end. But he still has a lot of golf left to play this season.
While Scottie Scheffler’s Open win means that Player of the Year honors are out of McIlroy’s reach, he has put together a historic season that could still get better.
With one event left before the FedEx Cup Playoffs, McIlroy has captured two big PGA Tour wins in addition to his Masters title to push his career total to 29. He could still catch Scheffler in the FedEx Cup race to win his fourth title. And he most certainly will balloon his season earnings in the Playoffs.
But the most important event left on Rory’s schedule arrives in late September, when he and the European team take on the U.S. team in what is expected to be a heated 2025 Ryder Cup at boisterous Bethpage Black in New York.
